When Existence Looks Back
01
The Reflection
When you look into a mirror, you see a face. You recognize the eyes, the shape of the jaw, the familiar expression. But if you stare long enough, a strange separation happens. You realize you are not the face in the glass.
The face is just the physical surface. The actual 'you' is the invisible observer looking out from behind those eyes. No matter how closely someone studies your physical body, they will never find the exact location of that observer.
So if you are not the reflection, and you are not the physical tissue, what exactly is this pulse we call a self?
02
The Hidden Witness
If you are not your physical reflection, perhaps you are your mind. But the mind is rarely still.
When you sit quietly, you can watch your own thoughts pass by like scenes on a movie screen. You can observe your anxiety, your boredom, and your memories. But if you can watch a thought happen, then you cannot be the thought itself. You are whatever is watching it.
Your thoughts change every second. Your beliefs shift constantly over a lifetime. Yet that quiet feeling of being 'me' feels exactly the same today as it did when you were a child.
03
The Name Of A Thing
There is a strange trick our minds play on us the moment we give something a name.
As soon as you call an object a cup, a tree, or your own hand, your brain assumes it understands it. You apply a label, file it away as 'known', and stop wondering about it.
But a word is just a convenient shortcut. If you drop the familiar labels for a moment, the world becomes deeply strange again. A hand is no longer just a hand. It is a profound mystery of atoms temporarily holding a shape.
04
The Size Of Here
It is easy to look up at the night sky and feel entirely insignificant.
We spend our lives in tiny rooms, spinning on a small rock, looking out at stars that have been burning for billions of years.
Against that kind of scale, a human body is impossibly small. But consciousness might not be. Through us, the universe is finally opening its eyes to witness itself.
05
Before Cause
If everything has a cause, what caused the very first thing?
Our minds are built to understand time as a sequence of events. One thing causes another. But if you follow that trail all the way back to the beginning, the rules break down.
If time did not exist yet, there was no 'before'. And if nothingness had the potential to create something, it was never truly nothing. The sheer fact that anything exists at all is the ultimate riddle.
06
The Unseen Root
If you lose everything that makes you 'you', what is left?
Imagine peeling back the layers. Remove your name, your memories, your fears, and your desires.
Once all of that is gone, what remains is incredibly simple. Just the bare fact that you are awake.
